Faust Park and the Butterfly House

Faust Park is a landmark in Chesterfield, a beautiful community park featuring a historic village, carousel, walking paths, playgrounds, and the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House. If you visit on a weekend, you can catch actors in period costumes offering interactive, educational experiences in the historic village. At the Butterfly House, you'll find up to 80 species of butterflies as well as exhibits and short films to help you learn more.

Open Air Concert at Chesterfield Amphitheater

Pack a picnic and attend a summer concert at the open air Chesterfield Amphitheater! The whole family will love listening to live music outside, no matter the ages of your children. The outdoor amphitheater seats 4,000 people, with space to bring lawn chairs or blankets to relax on the lawns. Check their schedule to find out when a movie night or free concert is taking place, and you might even catch them on a night with food trucks ready to serve guests. The amphitheater is located in Central Park and is surrounded by ample parking, making for a convenient and low stress family outing.

The Smokehouse Market

The Smokehouse Market has been a landmark in Chesterfield since 1937, but after being destroyed by a flood in 1993 the owners made lemonade from lemons and completely updated the market. A family staycation is the perfect time to peruse the aisles looking for the perfect cut of meat, fresh baked pie, speciality cheese, or bottle of wine to bring home and prepare a memorable family dinner. If you are looking for a break from cooking, grab some of their deli favorites or put together an impressive charcuterie board.

Rich and Charlie's

Opened in 1967, Rich and Charlie's is a charming, classic Italian restaurant the whole family will love. Choose from four locations in the area, all serving up your favorites like veal parmigiano, fried ravioli, chicken spedini, and linguini with white clam sauce. The full Italian menu will be hard to narrow down, with such an amazing selection and time-tested recipes. Stop by for lunch of dinner any time on your family staycation, as they are open seven days a week.

Upper Limits

Upper Limits is a top climbing gym in the St. Louis area, perfect for beginners and experts alike. Bring the whole family and challenge yourselves to some friendly competition and a great workout. Don't be surprised if you want to sign up for a membership by the time you leave! One of the perks of a staycation is being able to find your new favorite places in town, and we think you might feel that way about Upper Limits.

Oberweis Ice Cream & Dairy Store

No vacation is complete without at least one sweet treat. The whole family will love stopping by Oberweis Ice Cream & Dairy Store, a small regional chain offering classic homemade ice cream made with milk from local farmers. Before you head home, stroll through the dairy store to bring home some gently pasteurized milk, yogurt, butter, or cheese. As fourth generation dairy farmers, they take pride in offering the highest quality dairy products from farmers who take pride in caring for their cows. You'll taste the difference!
