Saint Louis Zoo Preschool

Deciding on a preschool for your child can be an overwhelming task. How do you find the trust to delegate one of the most important roles you’ll ever have as a parent? If you love nature and wildlife or are eco-minded, how do you choose an institution that will allow your child to become their own individual while being introduced to our world with those thoughts in mind.

Well if you’re not scared for your child to experience a little weather (maybe a lot) and some freedom, they can learn and grow in a place of historic value that tops the ranks in the US and around the world. Not many people know that the Saint Louis Zoo offers a preschool program.

Through a Reggio Emilia inspired program, children can begin their academic journey in an empowering, stress-free manner that is engaging to them. They can blossom socially in an emotionally conscientious environment.

Spending up to 50% of their time outdoors, children are given the opportunity to be adventurers and learn to take calculated risks. Forest Park is brimming with interesting plants, wildlife, and structures many locals have not discovered themselves.

The indoor classroom space, located in The Living World building at the Zoo’s North Entrance, was specially designed using biophilic principles and sustainably sourced materials to reflect the natural world all around us.

The school offers half-days. Children ages 3-4 years old attend classes held on Tuesday and Thursdays. Four- and five-year-olds attend Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. All classes are from 8:30 to 12:30.
